LonWorks is a networking platform used for the integration of a
wide variety of electrical devices designed for building automation
and control. A small sample of popular LonWorks compatible
devices that may all be integrated to each other include:
• light switches/controls – motor controls – chiller controls – fan
VAV AHU controllers
• lighting controllers – fire and smoke damper actuator controllers
• elevator access controllers – room environment sensors
This course is designed to familiarize the students with design
considerations and methods used in the installation of Echelon’s
LonWorks technology. This course gets into the hows and whys
of LonWorks and prepares learners to install the network cabling
and low-voltage power distribution necessary to implement such
systems. The emphasis of this course is on the hardware aspect
of network installation and does not get into system integration
issues, except where necessary to clarify a procedure.
