Prerequisite– to successfully complete this course, you must have completed the IBEW training course A.C. Relay/PLC SLC 500 Controls, or have a good working knowledge of electromechanical control devices and Relay Ladder Logic.
Objectives
Persons successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Identify hardware components of a ControlLogix Programmable Controller System.
- Configure and install a basic ControlLogix Programmable Controller System.
- Use a programming terminal for:
- Entering, editing and troubleshooting programs.
- Storing, copying and printing programs
- Isolate processor and I/O faults to the module level.
- Troubleshoot simple programs using ladder instructions of the ControlLogix Controller
- Connect and establish communications over an Ethernet network.

This course consists of the following topics:
- Understanding Logix 5000 Systems
- Identifying Logix 5000 System Components
- Identifying Project Structure and Execution in RSLogix 5000 Software
- Configuring Local I/O and Communication Cards in a Logix 5000 Controller
- Interpreting and developing Ladder Logic with Bit Instructions in Logix 5000 System
- Interpreting Timer and Counter Instructions in Ladder Logix using RSLogix 5000 Software
- Peripheral Operations, Program Loading, Program Printing, Searching
Practical exercises provide the student an opportunity to practice new skills obtained during the class discussions.
