Prerequisite – Fourth term Apprentice or Journeyperson electrician.
This course is designed to introduce the student to the development and understanding of A.C. Motor Control. Course content includes: an in-depth study of reading basic control circuits and sequence of operation; designing a schematic control circuit including proper layout and wiring methods.
Hands-on wiring projects include start/stop/jog, hands/off/auto, interlocking and forward/reverse applications. The student will have the opportunity – with the aid of a computer – to draw control circuits used in conjunction with their assignments. These computerized circuits can then be put in a run mode and tested prior to wiring.
The course objectives are to strengthen the students logical thinking in reading and deciphering the information in control circuits. This course is a prerequisite to programmable logic controller and AC Relay Control – Level II courses. |
